Be Joyful, Be Light and have Fun
To ensure you have the best possible experience at Pilates and Yoga Styles we have outlined a few guidelines of good Studio etiquette for everyone to follow. So take a few moments to read these guidelines and we trust you will enjoy your time with us.
DO arrive early. Getting to class about 10 minute early can help you settle in and align your attitude with the purpose of class. While you’re waiting you can practice a pose, do a few stretches or just sit or lie quietly, breathe and get centered.
DON’T eat for two hours before class. If you practice yoga/pilates on a full stomach you might experience cramps, nausea. Digesting food also takes energy that can make you feel lethargic.
DO let your teacher know about any injuries or conditions that might affect your practice. If you are injured or tired skip poses you can’t or shouldn’t do, or try a modified version.
DON’T bring mobile phones into the studio. Leave socialising and business outside the studio so the peace of the practice is not disturbed.
DO create an intention. To help you focus, you might find it helpful to dedicate your practice to a certain intention. This might be to become more aware and understanding, more loving and compassionate, or healthier, stronger and more skilful. Or it might be for the benefit of a friend, a cause – or even for yourself.
DON’T bring bags and jackets into the studio. You can leave bags and jackets in the changing rooms or at reception.
DO be quiet. It’s great to share a class with people you know, but it can be distracting to yourself and others to have extended or loud conversations.
DON’T enter class late, its disruptive to others. If unforeseen circumstances do cause you to be delayed quietly enter the class.
DO bring a towel if you sweat a lot, and arrive clean and free of strong scents that might distract others.
DON’T leave class early, it’s disruptive to others. If a yoga class should be running late and you need to leave on time please complete your practice and lie down for a few minutes relaxation.
DO take shoes off. We are a shoe free environment, please make use or our shoe racks at the top of the stairs.
DON’T walk on mats. When walking around the studio please do not walk on someone else’s mat. It is best to acquire your own mat as it will gradually build and hold your yogic energy.
DO pickup and neatly put away any props you use. If you have used a studio mat we require that you use the spray and cloth provided after use for hygienic purposes.
DON’T be in a hurry after class. Take some time afterwards to think about what you did in class, so that you can retain what you learned, even if you remember just one thing from each class, you’ll soon have a lot of information that can deepen your own personal practice.
